Steller sea lion research > Other Hypotheses

Other Research Hypotheses

Integrated studies have been developed to test the various other hypothesies (in addition to nutritional stress and predation) that have been put forward to explain the decline of Steller sea lions. These studies draw on the expertise and talents of university based physiologists, exologists, veterinary experts, marine amammalogists, fisheries specialsists and oceanographers.

Hypotheses presently under study include disease, shooting and entanglement, overfishing, human disturbance and ecosystem change.
