Biography
While Saeko was an undergraduate student at Texas A&M University at Galveston, she was involved in several activities, such as volunteering at Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network , and interning at the Center for Coastal Studies in Provincetown, Massachusetts participating North Atlantic humpback whale research. After graduating from TAMUG, she worked at the Mystic Aquarium in Connecticut as a research intern and studied on skin lesions of beluga whales and worked on seal stranding rescue along Connecticut and the Rhode Island coast.

Here at the Marine Mammal Research Unit, she is working on her master thesis, seasonal effects on energy balance of captive Steller sea lions at the Vancouver Aquarium under the supervision of Dr. David Rosen and Dr. Andrew Trites.  She is interested in a relationship between nutrition and physiology of mammals.
